Summer Kids Camps & Activities for 2024
Even though spring has just sprung, summer will be here soon and many kids activities are booking now. Here’s a resource with a listing of Peoria area organizations who are hosting camps and other special activities for the summer.
Church Camps
Several area churches will be hosting Bible Camps this summer including (but not limited to) the following organizations: Faith Bible Camp, Grace Presbyterian Church, Ignite Church, Northminster Presbyterian Church, Northwoods Community Church and St. Jude Catholic Church, as well as non denominational groups who are hosting summer camps including Camp of Champions, Camp Good News, Dream Center, South Side Mission and the Salvation Army, and the Greater Peoria YMCA.
Educational Camps
The following camps offer learning opportunities in STEM topics to allow kids to continue learning in a fun way over their break. They include Bradley University, Code Ninjas, ICC College for Kids, Peoria Academy, Peoria Zoo and the Sun Foundation’s Art & Science in the Woods.
Fine Arts Camps
If you’re looking for a way to introduce your child to performing arts in the area, there are lots of great options including Community Children’s Youth Theatre Summer Camp, Peoria Art Guild Art + Music Camp, Nitsch Theatre Arts Summer Arts Mini Camps, Peoria Ballet’s Intensive Workshop, Peoria Performing Arts Musical Theatre Workshop, the Wheel Art Pottery Summer Camp plus these groups will be hosting summer youth performances: Chillicothe’s Youth Theatre (Shrek Jr.) Community Children’s Theatre (The Little Mermaid), Nitsch Theatre Arts (All Shook Up, Six the Musical and Moana), and Peoria Players (Mean Girls).
General and Sports Camps
For multiple activities or sports specific camps, these organizations may be a good option for your child: The Christian Center, Clubs at River City Camps, the Fondulac Park District Camps, ICC Sports Summer Camps, Peoria Notre Dame Volleyball Camp, and several options with the Peoria Park District.
Scouting Camps
The Boy Scouts camps at Ingersoll Scout Reservation are now open for registration. And the Girl Scouts offer several camping options at Camp Tapawingo, including day camps, overnight camps, equestrian camp, teen leadership camp in addition to family and troop events plus summer trips outside of the Peoria area.
Special Needs Camps
For kids who may have special needs or for parents who would like their child to attend a camp, but can’t afford it, these camps may be a good fit: Beau Grant Foundation SOS Kids Camp, HOI Illinois Special Recreation Association Camps, Neighborhood House and the South Side Mission.
