The 2017 Festival of Trees kicks off tonight (Thursday) with a Jingle & Mingle Cocktail Party at First Federated Church of Peoria's Life Together Center (located at 3625 N. Sheridan Rd. in Peoria) from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. The Festival continues Friday from 10 am - 6 pm, Saturday 11 am - 6 pm, and Sunday 11 am - 4 pm featuring 80 already decorated trees and wreaths, centerpieces and other holiday decor items on display and to bid on or to purchase. Other highlights include a brunch, a family day, a Sweet Sundae Tea and a Wine Tasting on Saturday beginning at 6:30 pm which is new this year. All proceeds benefit Crittenton Centers. Admission for the Thursday cocktail party is $50, the Wine & Tasting event is $45 per person and $75 per couple, the Sweet Tea on Sunday is $25 per person and for the rest of the festival is $6 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and children aged 3 - 14 and free for kids aged 2 and under. Rock of Ages continues at Peoria Players Theatre (located at 4300 N University St. in Peoria) tonight (Thursay) Friday & Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. A rock/jukebox musical built around classic rock songs from the 1980s from legendary artists Bon Jovi, Journey, Styx, Pat Benatar, Poison, REO Speedwagon and more, the show was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical. CityLink's 4th Annual "Day of Stuffing" will take place at Kroger (located at 801 W. Lake Ave. in Peoria) on Friday from 6 am - 6 pm. The Annual Motherhouse Fall Bazaar sponsored by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis (located at 1175 St. Francis Ln. in East Peoria) will take place on Friday from 9 am - 5 pm and on Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm. Enjoy a Candlelight Walk through the Poinsettia Show at Luthy Botanical Garden (located at 2520 N. Prospect in Peoria) on Fridays and Saturdays through New Years Eve from 6 - 9 pm. The walk takes you through the Poinsettia Show at night, under the warm glow of hundreds of candles, while enjoying live performances of holiday music. The show also runs daily from 10 am - 5 pm. A Barn Dance will be held at Shore Acres (located at 100 Park Blvd. in Chillicothe) on Friday beginning at 7 pm. Featuring the band "Too Old to be Controlled", beginners can learn the dances at 6:45 pm and no partner is needed. Admission is $7 for adults with a $20 family maximum. Chicago's Sketchiest Comedians will perform at Jukebox Comedy Club (located at 3527 W Farmington Rd. in Peoria) on Friday at 8 pm for $10.

Civil War Winter Quarters will take place at Sommer Park (located at 6329 N Koerner Rd. in Edwards) from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday and 10 am - 3 pm on Sunday. Cost is $5 per vehicle. Watch history come to life as Civil War soldiers prepare for their winter encampment. Living historians in authentic uniforms will use period tools and construction methods to build wooden shelters that will protect them from the approaching winter weather. A Nature Art Show and Sale Open House will take place at Forest Park Nature Center (located at 5809 N Forest Park Dr. in Peoria Heights) on Saturday from 2 - 4 pm. The show continues through New Year's Eve Mondays - Saturdays from 9 am - 5 pm and Sundays from 1 - 5 pm (except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day). Featuring a variety of media and unique artwork, all created by local artists including original nature-related photographs, paintings, woodcarvings, handmade jewelry and more. The 33rd Annual Festival of Lights Parade will take place on Saturday in East Peoria beginning at 5:45 pm. The parade covers three miles of Washington Street starting on one side of the city and ending just past downtown featuring floats shaped entirely from LED lights. Lock and Key Burlesque will present The Low Down Dirty Blues at the Apollo Theatre (located at 311 Main St. in downtown Peoria) on Saturday beginning at 7 pm. Featuring vaudevillian style burlesque dances and skits set to classic and modern blues music, there will also be guest performances from Ginger LeSnapps from Ohio's Cin City Burlesque. The Peoria Train Fair will take place at Illinois Central College in East Peoria on Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm. Featuring DVDs, videos, books, and photos, as well as many model railroad parts and supplies will be available. Tables will also highlight new and used items from most scales including Lionel, G, O, HO, N and Z. Real railroad memorabilia will be available including hats, shirts, patches, and pins. Sponsored by the Illinois Valley Model Railroad Club in Peoria and Pekin's River City Model Railroad Club, admission is $3 for adults and free for kids 12 and under when accompanied by an adult. Peoria's oldest running race, the 47th Annual Turkey Trot, will take place at Detweiller Park (located at 8327 N Galena Rd. in Peoria) on Sunday at 1 pm. Despite rain, shine or snow, the 4-mile run and the 1/2 mile youth fun-run that will take place immediately before, awards a trophy and a turkey to the top two finishers in each division.
