The regional premiere of School of Rock will be presented by Eastlight Theatre's YouthLight program (located within the East Peoria High School Auditorium) beginning at 7:30 pm Friday & Saturday and at 2 pm on Sunday. Music for the stage musical was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber with 14 new songs in addition to all of the original songs from the movie. The 2016 Illinois Shakespeare Festival continues at Ewing Manor (located at 617 E. Emerson in Bloomington). The shows include Hamlet, Twelfth Night and Peter and the Starcatcher with performances at 7:30 pm Tuesdays - Thursdays and Sundays and at 8 pm on Fridays & Saturdays through August 13. The Illinois Art League All Members Exhibit will be on display at the Peoria Public Library Main Library in downtown Peoria through Saturday, July 30. Members of the League share their work in a wide variety of subjects and media with the public during this all member show.  An art sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30, from 9 am - 4 pm with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Friends of Peoria Public Library. The city of Chillicothe will host a Corn Fest and City Garage Sale which will take place tonight (Thursday) in City Park from 5 - 8 pm. The Peoria Historical Society's "Naughty to Nice Tour" will run Friday beginning at 11 am tracing triumphs through time from the 1920's to the present.  It entails stories of the city's gangster era, including driving by the site of Peoria's most notorious crime scene: the Bernie Shelton murder. Their "River City Tour" winds along Grandview Drive takes place on Saturday beginning at 11 am.  And their "Roll Out the Barrel Tour" takes you through the earliest sections of downtown Peoria and into the Warehouse District where you'll discover historical facts about distilling in Peoria also on Saturday at 1:30 pm.  All tours start & end at the Peoria Riverfront Museum in downtown Peoria. The American Red Cross will host a Summer Super Hero Blood Drive at the Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino on Friday from 11 am - 6 pm. The 15th Annual Backpack Peoria will be held at Dream Center Peoria (located at 714 Hamilton Blvd. in Peoria) on Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm. 2500 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given away at the event. An adult must be present with each child and there is a limit of one backpack per child, which will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. In addition, students and families in Peoria Public Schools will be given the opportunity to meet their principal and register for school, as well as the chance to get needed dental exams plus a live DJ, games and food. Scouting at the Museum: Sky is the Limit will take place in the Peoria Riverfront Museum's Dome Planetarium on Saturday from Noon - 3 pm. The workshop, which is intended to help Tiger Cub Scouts learn astronomy and earn their Sky is the Limit belt loop, will include a planetarium show, a lesson on constellations and the science behind the stars and hands-on time for Scouts to make their own planisphere (star-chart) and practice with them plus observe the daytime moon through a telescope (weather permitting).
