The Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive and Springdale Cemetery Bus Tour departs from Exhibit A Gallery (located at 4607 Prospect Rd in Peoria Heights) every Friday in August at 11:30 am. Their Lincoln and the Civil War Bus Tour departs every Saturday in August at 11:30 am from the Caterpillar Visitor's Center. And the Peoria's Notable Women Bus Tour departs from the Caterpillar Visitor's Center every Saturday in August at 1:30 pm. Cost for each tour is $15. The Illinois State Fair continues on the Illinois State Fairgrounds running through Sunday from 7 am - midnight each day. Admission is $10 for ages 13 - 59, free for children up to 12 and $3 for senior citizens aged 60+. Parking per day is $5. The Grand Opening of the Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts (located at 1327 East Kelly Avenue in Peoria Heights) will take place tonight (Thursday) beginning with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 pm. Featuring live music by the Bradley Jazz Combo and dinner and drinks to celebrate the 100th birthday of the center's namesake, the festivities mark the completion of the first phase of the renovation project of the old Peoria Heights library. A LEGO Brick Building Challenge will take place in the Permanent Collections gallery in the Peoria RiverFront Museum on Saturday from 2 - 4 pm.
