Heartland Festival Orchestra Maestro's Choice Concert will take place at Five Points Washington (located at 360 N Wilmor Rd in Washington) on Saturday beginning at 7:30 pm. A Pandemic Simulation will take place at Methodist College (located at 7600 N. Academic Drive in Peoria) tonight (Thursday) from 6 - 8:30 pm as part of the inaugural Methodist College Reads! program.  Experience what it's like to face a pandemic like the one in the novel Station Eleven with a live action simulation of the progression of an epidemic outbreak in a hospital and its effects on the population and health care providers. There will also be an interactive lab on transmission of diseases plus a final "debriefing" discussion. Admission is free and seating is limited. Registration is available at
The Shakespeare Project will take place at Eureka College Theatre (located at 300 E College Ave. in Eureka) tonight (Thursday) through Saturday beginning at 7 pm each night. The company performs Julius Caesar with a smattering of Midsummer Night's Dream and improv because not everyone knew which lines they were supposed to memorize. Central Illinois Regional (CIR) FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) will take place at the Bradley Renaissance Coliseum (located at 1600 West Main Street in Peoria) on Friday from 9 am - Noon and from 1 - 5 pm and on Saturday from 9 am - Noon and 1 - 4 pm. The top four FIRST Lego League champion teams (grades 4-8) from the state contest will also compete on Saturday morning. Community Workshop and Training Center (CWTC) will present its Inspiring Abilities Consumer Art Show exhibition at the Holiday Inn at Grand Prairie (located at 7601 N Orange Prairie Rd. in Peoria) on Friday from 6 - 8 pm. The evening showcases the talents of CWTC consumers through their painting and pottery. Pieces will be for sale during the silent auction with proceeds benefiting the artist and the Inspiring Art Abilities Program for individuals with disabilities. The 38th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, sponsored by the St. Patrick Society of Peoria, will take over downtown Peoria on Saturday beginning at 11 am stepping off from the corner of Monroe Street and Hancock Street. Following the parade, a St. Patrick's Day Party will be held at the the Gateway Building on the Peoria riverfront immediately following the parade with the Bogside Zukes and Flynn's Irish Dancers providing live entertainment. The Irish Setter Wake Murder Mystery Dinner Show will be presented on Saturday at East Port Banquet Center with doors opening and a cast mingle beginning at 6 pm. Scarlet: Ballet-Film Hybrid will take place at the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center (located at 1 College Dr. in East Peoria) on Saturday beginning at 7 pm. Combining classical ballet and film to bring a story inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter" to life, the full-length ballet follows the iconic Hester Prynne as she wrestles with her open guilt and grief in a judgmental society, while Reverend Dimmesdale suffers in silence with his secret sin and love. The 42nd Lebanese Food Festival will take place at St. Sharbel Church (located at 2920 W Scenic Dr. in Peoria on Sunday with continuous serving from 11 am - 6 pm. Featuring cabbage rolls, meat pie, green beans, salad, pita bread and soft drinks, carry outs will also be available. A Celebration of the 75th anniversary of Greek Orthodox Archbishop Damaskinos' letter of protest against the Holocaust will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Sunday beginning at 3 pm. Featuring the Consul General of Greece from Chicago, testimonials and a reading of the letter at the Holocaust Memorial, while living in Nazi-occupied Greece, the Archbishop stood out as the only worldwide leader to formally protest the Holocaust during World War II. The letter led to his execution by firing squad, but assisted the survival of thousands of Greek Jews. Hosted by the Jewish Federation of Peoria and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, admission is free. For more information, visit
A Quarter Auction to benefit Colorectal Cancer Research will take place at the North Pekin Amvets (located at 660 Radio City Drive in Pekin) on Sunday beginning with doors opening at 4:30 pm with the auction beginning at 5:30 pm.
