Out of Sight, Out of Murder opens on Friday at Corn Stock Theatre's Theatre Center (Iocated in upper Bradley Park) beginning at 7:30 pm as well as on Saturday at 7:30 pm plus on Sunday at 2:30 pm. The Inaugural Afternoon of Art Fundraiser Open House will be held at the Gateway Building (located at 200 NE Water St. in Peoria) on Saturday from 1 - 5 pm. Featuring artwork of renowned artist Jonathon Romain, interactive stations about the educational programs to be offered once the community arts center opens including STEAM projects from ISU's CeMAST Department, music in partnership with Youth Music Illinois and a silent auction, this is your chance to learn more about and support the project. A Veterans Art Exhibit is on display through January 30th at the Peoria Public Library in downtown Peoria daily from 9 am - 6 pm. View a wide range of artistic expression, all created by area veterans. Some were artists before they served, while others are using art to understand their military experience. Organized by 22VA, a group of veteran artists who help other veterans express themselves through visual and creative arts. Their goal is to reduce the number of veteran suicides which claim the lives of 22 veterans a day - more than double the rate for the civilian population. Admission is free. Howlin' on Water Dueling Pianos will take place in the Broadway Lounge at the MAXAM Building (located at the corners of Liberty and Washington in Downtown Peoria) as a benefit for the Richwoods St. Jude Run on Friday with dinner seating beginning at 6 pm. State & Water "Winterlude" to benefit WTVP will take place at Monarch Music Hall (located at 8102 N University Street in Peoria) on Friday beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are $20 for general admission seating or $30 for preferred seating and are available at the box office or online at
The Chill Billy Winter Sporting Event will take place at Camp Wokanda located at 620 E Boy Scout Rd. in Chillicothe) on Saturday from 9 am - 4 pm. Featuring cast-iron cooking training, fire-building techniques, basic orienteering, winter tree ID, ice fishing or tai chi and a winter survival class, admission is $5 which includes a chili lunch. A 2 hour and 8 hour endurance race will also take place for $45 and $65. Race registration is available at
Eat, Drink and Be Married will take place at Five Points Washington (located at 360 N. Wilmor Road in Washington) on Saturday from Noon - 2 pm. Featuring a free wine & food tasting and various wedding vendors, admission is free with registration. Register HERE
Kids Night at the Museum will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Saturday from 6 - 9 pm. For ages 5 to 14, kids can explore their favorite exhibitions and galleries plus enjoy staff-led activities. A snack will be provided. Community Children's Theatre will host a Second Saturday Sing-Along featuring Beauty and the Beast at their facility (located at 8800-A N Industrial Rd. in Peoria) on Saturday from 6 - 8 pm. Pub Night Under the Stars:New Horizons - Pluto - Ultima Thule will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum Dome Planetarium on Saturday from 7 - 9 pm. Featuring food & up to 3 craft beers, you'll learn about the New Horizons spacecraft that recently flew by Pluto and Ultima Thule, another Kuiper Belt object. Attendees must be 21 or older. Trailblazing Women of Walt Disney's Animation will take place at the Riverfront Museum Giant Screen Theater on Sunday beginning at 12:30 pm. The lecture geared toward a younger audience will discuss how women influenced and worked to created some of the early Disney animated favorites. And at 3 pm, Mindy Johnson, author of the landmark volume Ink & Paint - The Women of Walt Disney's Animation, will raise the celluloid curtain on the remarkable history of women within Disney animation. A Sensory Friendly Family Film, Incredibles 2, will be shown at the Lakeview Library (located at 1137 W Lake Ave. Peoria) on Sunday from 2 - 4 pm. Featuring a lighter room, lower volume and the ability for audience members to move around, talk and sing during the showing, the intended audience is children with special needs accompanied by siblings and caregivers.
