Learn about Peoria's rich history as the Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive & Springdale Cemetery Tour takes you to view spectacular views of the river from the world's most beautiful drive while seeing elegant homes of past and present Peorians then continues to the oldest chartered cemetery in the state of Illinois running every Friday in October at 11:30 am. The tour departs from the Exhibit A Gallery (located at 4607 N Prospect Rd. in Peoria Heights).  Their Haunted Peoria Tour is where you'll discover the stories behind the ghostly appearances that have startled and puzzled Peorians through the years. Learn about the Lady in White, the Legend of Nee-Nee-Wah, the Curse of Old Lady Gray, and more. Running every Saturday in October at 11:30 am and at 1:30 pm, the tours leave from the CAT Visitors Center in downtown Peoria.  The cost for each tour is $15 and seating is extremely limited. The Big Picture Arts Festival will take place in the Warehouse District of Peoria (located in the 1200 - 1300 blocks of SW Adams St. in Peoria) on Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm. Founded by local artists Doug and Eileen Leunig, with the support of artists, arts organizations and private donations, the festival aims to establish Peoria as a national arts destination by enlivening buildings with public murals, hosting a new arts and film festival, providing arts education opportunities and promoting Peoria's story to a national audience. Featuring live mural paintings, music from PhanieRae and the Soul Shakers and Gentle Gorilla, street chalk artists, a public paint-by-numbers mural, street theater by Peoria Players and Corn Stock performers, digital Simon Sez, a paint fling, yoga art, inflatable sculptures, children's art activities with the Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum, dancers from the Central Illinois Ballet, food trucks and more, admission is free. Beginning at 7 pm, the Big Picture Film Festival will begin at the Peoria Riverfront Museum with the judging and the screening of films made by local filmmakers.
