The Bridges of Madison County continues at Corn Stock Theatre (located in upper Bradley Park) tonight (Thursday) through Sunday beginning at 7:30 pm. The musical version of the popular book and movie, the story follows Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, who looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into her driveway seeking directions, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca’s life. The Heart of Illinois Fair continues at Expo Gardens (located at 1601 West Northmoor Road in Peoria) today (Thursday) through  Saturday. Attractions include a carnival, live entertainment, tractor pulls, a demolition derby and much more. The Illinois Shakespeare Festival continues tonight (Thursday) with a preview of Shakespeare in Love at the ISU Center for Performing Arts Theatre (located at 400 W. Beaufort St. in Normal) at 7:30 pm. The show also runs on Friday & Saturday at 8 pm and on Sunday at 3 pm.  The festival also includes The Merry Wives of Windsor and Shakespeare in Love and runs through August 11th. Learn about Peoria's rich history with the Peoria Historical Society's River City Tour which winds along Grandview Drive leaving from Exhibit A Gallery (located at 4607 N Prospect Rd. in Peoria Heights) every Friday in July beginning at 11:30 am.  And their Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour leaves from the Caterpillar Visitor Center in downtown Peoria every Saturday in July beginning at 1:30 pm where you'll learn about Lincoln's many visits to Peoria and the Civil War troops that trained here, see the final resting place for many brave veterans in Springdale Cemetery, and view the GAR Hall built in 1909 to provide a place for Union veterans to meet.  Cost for each tour is $15. The Michael's Run for Life Festival will begin and end in the Nena Ace Hardware parking lot (located at 505 Jubilee Lane in Germantown Hills) on Saturday beginning at 5:30 pm with the kid's run and at 6 pm for the 5k and 1 mile runs. A Tornado Recovery Parade to celebrate 5 years of recovery efforts since the November, 17, 2013 tornado that hit Washington will step off on Sunday at 2 pm in front of the Washington Park District Office (located at 105 S Spruce St. in Washington) and end at the Washington Fire Station. Featuring the first responders that helped with the recovery efforts throughout the aftermath of the tornado plus the Budweiser Clydesdales who will join the parade at Elm/Walnut Streets.
