Live at the Five Spot featuring Heather Maloney will take place at the Contemporary Art Center (located at 305 SW Water St. in Peoria) beginning at 6:30 pm. Advanced online admission is $8 for members, $12 for non-members until 5 pm the day of event or at the door cost is $12 for members or $16 for non-members if capacity hasn't been reached with advance online sales. Massachusetts based Heather Maloney is a talented singer/songwriter known for her ability to channel emotion simultaneously heartbreaking and celebratory, writing memorable lyrics of Rumi-like depth exploring impermanence, tracking transformation and detailing her inner world. The duo ‘High Tea’ will accompany Heather after their opening set. With over 1,000 international shows and 9 studio albums under her belt, Heather’s songs have played on NPR stations across the country. Her song “Nightstand Drawer” was featured in the season finale of the CBS TV series "Elementary", and her songs have also been streamed hundreds of thousands of times on editorial Spotify playlists & Starbucks’ in-store nationwide playlists. Her most personal record to date, “Exploding Star” was written in the wake of her father’s death. Maloney originally had no intention of recording or releasing this collection of 12 songs until some of her closest friends and family convinced her otherwise. From recording in her abandoned childhood home, to playing her father’s guitar throughout the record, “Exploding Star” is something celebratory and heartbreaking all at once. Heather has toured throughout the US & Canada as a headliner while also opening for Shakey Graves, Gary Clark Jr., Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Dar Williams and many more.

Their popular live entertainment includes Live at the Five Spot which takes place on Friday evenings, as well as Peoria’s Open Mic for Poetry, Whisper & Shout, the first Thursday of the month. The CAC also participates in the First Fridays Studio Tours every month.
