A Holiday Makers Market will take place at Three Sisters Park on Rt. 29 in Chillicothe from 9 am – 3 pm.  Featuring 50 vendors with boutique style booths of handmade products and vintage items, there will also be food, a cash bar and more!.   The event is completely indoors, with the exception of a few mobile shops.  Tickets for breakfast are $5 or free for ages 15 and under.  For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com

Peoria Riverfront Museum - Engineering Day 2025

The Ocean Odyssey Touch Tank will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum (located at 222 NW Water St in Peoria) with public sessions at 11 am and 2 pm and a member exclusive session at 12:30 pm.  Featuring an educational presentation that breaks down common misconceptions surrounding sharks and rays, as well as highlighting the unique adaptations these animals have to survive. This program allows participants to explore the important roles sharks and rays that live thousands of miles away, and how people can help protect them.  Participants will have an opportunity to get their hands wet and touch some of the animals.  Admission for members is $10 and $15 for the public.  For more information and online tickets, visit www.peoriariverfrontmuseum.org

This program in conjunction with with Finding Titanic: The Secret Mission.   The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium will host the event.

Peoria Riverfront Museum - Engineering Day 2025

The Peoria Riverfront Museum will host Sounds in Solitude beginning at 6:30 pm.  A special music series where art and music come together in a beautiful and moving way. Featuring Dr. Joshua Russell who will choose artwork from the exhibition Solitude: The Necessity of Art and performs a solo piece inspired by what he sees. A museum curator will join the performance to walk the audience through the selected artworks, giving insight into the art and the creative exchange between the musician and the visuals.   Light hors d’oeuvres will be served after the performance and a cash bar will be available.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for adult members and $10 for students with ID and are available online at https://www.peoriariverfrontmuseum.org

Dr. Joshua Russell has performed as a pianist, organist, and conductor throughout the United States, Europe, and Haiti, and currently serves as the artistic director and conductor of the Peoria Area Civic Chorale.  Dr. Russell’s performance is inspired by George Wesley Bellows’ Return of the Useless (1918), from the collection of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. The blending of art and music comes together meaningfully as Dr. Russell shares his personal response to his selected piece, creating a powerful connection between sound and image.  Through solo piano works by Liszt, Prokofiev, Brahms, and Sibelius, pianist Joshua Russell explores multiple facets of the human experience of solitude as portrayed in the museum’s Solitude exhibition. Using carefully selected music to elicit the emotions of the artwork in the gallery, and Bellows’ painting in particular, Dr. Russell intends to evoke the emotional intent of these paintings, from quiet contemplation and isolation to even firm resolution and heroism.  Peoria Area Civic Chorale members will perform further to immerse the audience in the experience of Solitude. The performance takes place inside the galleries, with the piano placed directly in front of the artwork that inspired it. A reception immediately follows in the lobby.

The Peoria Civic Center is made up of Carver Arena, a 2,000 seat Theater, multiple Exhibit Halls plus a ballroom and meeting rooms.  Sports teams who call the Civic Center home include the  Bradley University Braves men's basketball team and the Peoria Rivermen Hockey team.  The Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Peoria Ballet also perform in the theater.   And the American Theatre Guild hosts Broadway touring companies through their series in the theatre.
The facility opened in 1982 and thousands of events have taken place here over the last 40 years.  The Exhibit Hall D was added in 2007, bringing the overall exhibit space totaling over 100,000 square feet.  The Great Hall, the box office and the Peoria Rivermen office was part of that remodel as well.
