The Peoria Park District is celebrating National Parks and Recreation Month this July with several special events and offerings. Plus, the PPD’s Riverfront Events are returning with limited shows for the remainder of the summer.
The Park District is supplying Summer Fun Park Passes which allow Peoria District 150 students and their parents unlimited access to the Peoria Zoo and Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum plus single admissions to Owens Recreation Center and the PPD Golf Learning Center valid from July 5 to September 30. Each student was sent their passes through the US Mail and should have received them by the beginning of the program on July 5. For misplaced passes, parents must contact the Peoria District 150 administration office for replacements.
Another new program the Park District is offering is “Sunday Funday” which supplies a free shuttle that operates between 6 of their facilities including Glen Oak Park, Bradley Park, Proctor Center, Logan Park, the Peoria Riverplex & Forest Park Nature Center. These begin on Sunday, July 11 and run every Sunday through September 26.
And their “Play it Forward” program has launched which focuses on sharing gently used sports equipment to be donated to schools & organizations who serve underfunded youth groups in Peoria. Donations may be dropped off at the Noble Center in Lakeview Park, Proctor Recreation Center, the RiverPlex Recreation Center, and Owens Center. And for those who have been itching to get back to the Peoria riverfront to enjoy live music and favorite annual events, you will be happy to learn that there will be a partial season that begins on Friday, July 9th.
