Over time, the demand for  specialized eye services in the region escalated, prompting Dr. Wyman to expand his solo venture into what would become a key provider for comprehensive ophthalmic care. 

By 1977, Dr. Tom Wyman, George’s son, joined the practice, adding a familial and collaborative dynamic that enriched the practice’s atmosphere. In 1981, the arrival of Dr. Steve Sischer marked a shift from a strictly family-run enterprise to a broader team with diverse expertise. As more specialists joined—including Dr. Pete Lagouros in 1985 and Dr. Saffron, a pediatric ophthalmologist—the practice was increasingly able to cater to a variety of complex eye health needs, reflecting a commitment to serve patients with various conditions under one roof.

Evolving Identities, Expanding Reach

Initially known as the George J. Wyman Practice, the group later became Wyman Eye  Associates and eventually Wyman-Sischer Eye Associates. However, the breadth of services and the growing roster of specialists necessitated a more inclusive name. Thus, the organization officially adopted the name Illinois Eye Center, a title that signified its dedication to providing comprehensive, region-wide eye care. In subsequent years, additional clinic locations were established in Pekin and Washington to better serve the tri-county area.
