A Carpenters Christmas will be presented at the ICC Performing Arts Center (located at 1 College Dr. in East Peoria) beginning at 7:30 pm.  Singer and playwright Lisa Rock and her 6-piece backing band will perform Carpenters’ holiday traditions alive and bringing their Christmas songs to the stage. Based on the music of The Carpenters’ two holiday albums and Christmas variety shows and featuring “Merry Christmas Darling” and the jazzy “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” tickets are $27.75 for students and range from $49.80 – $55.05 for senior citizens and adults and are available at https://icc.edu

Created by an Intergovernmental Agreement between three local entities: the City of East Peoria, the Fon du Lac Park District, and the East Peoria Community High School, Eastlight Theatre performs in the Byron Moore Auditorium East Peoria High School located at 1401 E Washington St. in East Peoria.

Started in 1992, Eastlight Theatre's signature show is Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber is performed around the holidays as part of the annual East Peoria Festival of Lights. Eastlight Theatre is also home to the Penguin Project, which was started by Dr. Andy Morgan and his wife, Kathy Morgan to give opportunities for children with developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and other neurological disorders to perform in a musical.  They are joined by "peer mentors", children the same age without disabilities to work with the performers throughout the rehearsals and performances for the shows. Eastlight's Box Office is located at 201 Veterans Dr. in East Peoria.

The Fine Arts Society will host Tradition and Innovation: Korean Ceramics through the Ages which will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum (located at 222 NW Water St in Peoria) beginning at 10 am.  Featuring Yeonsoo Chee, the first curator of Korean Art at the Art Institute of Chicago, will present a brief overview of Korean ceramics from the Three Kingdoms period (about 57 BCE–676 CE) till today.  Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for students or free for Fine Arts Society members and are available at the door.  For more information, visit fineartssocieyofpeoria.net

Today’s Korean ceramic artists have the advantage of centuries of a rich tradition that serves as a valued resource as well as a burden that they carry – and strive to surpass. With an influx of western art practices in the 20th century, Korean artists opened up new, engaging discourses and created visually intriguing works that speak to the global audience.  Chee, a specialist in modern Korean painting and Joseon court art, joined the Art Institute in 2020 and is working to grow the Korean art collection and support the museum’s goal of representing the expanse of art across the Asian continent.

The Annual Crittenton Centers Stocking Stuffer Store will take place at Northwoods Mall on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 – 8 pm as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 6 pm.  The store allows children ages 12 and under to shop with the assistance of a volunteer for holiday presents for parents, grandparents, siblings – whomever they wish – while parents relax in a seating area located outside the store.
