Big Astronomy opens at the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s Dome Planetarium at 1 pm. Set in Chile where the dry, dark, sky, and remoteness creates an ideal site to observe the universe, by the year 2022 it is expected that nearly 70% of the world’s ground-based observing infrastructure will be located there. The US and other countries are investing billions of dollars in astronomy in Chile. The Big Astronomy show introduces audiences to the wide variety of personnel involved in advancing astronomical discovery. The show is included with regular admission to the Museum, which is or to include the new Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked the World is $18 for adults, $17 for seniors aged 60+ and students with ID and $16 for youth ages 3 – 17 and free for Museum members.
