The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be on display in Levee Park in The Levee District (located at 401 W Washington Street in East Peoria). The memorial will be open 24 hours daily and social distancing is expected by visitors. Admission is free. A reminder of the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War, The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall’s purpose is to help heal and rekindle friendships and allow people who may not be able to visit Washington, D.C. the opportunity to see the memorial. The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is a 3/5-scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. It stands six feet tall at the center and covers almost 300 feet from end to end. As of 2011, there are 58,272 names listed on the wall, just as they are in Washington, D.C. The traveling wall will be escorted into East Peoria by the Quiet Pride motorcycle club which is comprised of current and former military personnel.
