A New Year’s Eve Countdown will take place at the Peoria Civic Center from 2 -6 pm.  Featuring kids activities, face painting, balloon artists, inflatable bouncers, a magician, an "instrument petting zoo" presented by the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, a performance by the Peoria Notre Dame drumline followed by a children’s ball drop at 6 pm.   For adults, the Joe Stamm Band will perform in the Exhibit Hall from 9:45 - 11:45 pm followed by a countdown to 2020 and ring in the new year with the ball drop and a fireworks display outside of City Hall. The Peoria Civic Center is made up of Carver Arena, a 2,000 seat Theater, multiple Exhibit Halls plus a ballroom and meeting rooms.  Sports teams who call the Civic Center home include the  Bradley University Braves men's basketball team and the Peoria Rivermen Hockey team.  The Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Peoria Ballet also perform in the theater.   And the American Theatre Guild hosts Broadway touring companies through their series in the theatre.
The facility opened in 1982 and thousands of events have taken place here over the last 40 years.  The Exhibit Hall D was added in 2007, bringing the overall exhibit space totaling over 100,000 square feet.  The Great Hall, the box office and the Peoria Rivermen office was part of that remodel as well.
