The 2026 Pekin Marigold Festival will take place at Mineral Springs Park (located at 1701 Court St in Pekin) on Thursday from 5:30 - 9:30 pm, on Friday from 5 - 11 pm, on Saturday from 9 am - 11 pm and on Sunday from 8 am - 5 pm. Featuring a carnival, Art in the Park, Taste of Pekin, a Festive Food Court, a parade on Saturday, a cardboard boat race, a Lagoon Glow on Saturday night, a Sunday morning breakfast and community worship service, live entertainment throughout the event plus kids activities and more, admission is free.  New this year is the Roots & Boots Dragon Jam on Friday at the Avanti's Event Center Fields from 5 - 11 pm and a Rodeo Show at the Livestock Review Building next to the Parkside Athletic Club) on Sunday at 2 pm.   Tickets for these events along with more information are available at www.pekinchamber.com

The Peoria Riverfront Museum will host a 25th Anniversary Remembrance of the 9/11 terrorists attacks on the Sun Plaza beginning at 10 am. Honorary chair Peoria Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger will lead the event, along with the museum board, donors, and members, first responders, area students, families, community leaders, veterans, and public officials. Joining officials in the ceremony are Julia and John Chan, parents of Charles “Chip” Chan, the only Peorian who died in the attacks on 9/11.  The ceremony is In conjunction with upcoming exhibition "We Remember: Stories from the 9/11 Memorial and Museum which runs through April 11, 2027.  Admission to the ceremony is free and tickets for the exhibit are $20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens and $16 for kids aged 3 - 17  are available at https://www.peoriariverfrontmuseum.org

Eduardo and his wife Beverly Caballero, then stay for a the final dance party of the season.  Admission is $10 per person admission which includes a group dance lesson, DJ open dance social, and complimentary wine tasting for guests 21 and over. Come From Away is a critically acclaimed musical featuring a culturally relevant script accompanied by a deeply moving score by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The show’s global presence resonates across all audiences as an uplifting reminder of humanity’s ability to come together, no matter what the circumstances. Come From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.
