The 18th Annual Historic Springdale Cemetery Tours will take place at (located at 3014 N Prospect Rd. in Peoria) at 6 pm.  Additional Tours are at Noon and 2 pm on Saturday & Sunday.  Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for for children 3 – 13 or $35 for Family Pack which includes 2 adults and 2 children tickets.  For more information and to reserve tickets, call 309-696-0956 or visit https://309tix.com

During the tours, patrons will be guided on a short walk through a section of Springdale Cemetery to visit five different prominent Peorians from the past.

This year’s characters will include:

Dr. Daniel E. Bowers (1908-1994) – A prominent surgeon who was a former president of Methodist Medical Center staff and was very involved in the Shrine and served as the head of the Shrine of North America.
Lucie Brotherson Tyng (1837-1905) – daughter of poet Frances Brotherson, President of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union and namesake of Tyng School.
Alexander Tyng (1827-1897) – husband of Lucie Brotherson Tyng, an affluent business man who served his community through his church, the public school board, among other philanthropic endeavors.
Willard B. Arnold (1921-2013) – A direct descendent of John Arnold, a prosperous accountant and treasurer, who was on the Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Peoria and spent time in Brazil where he was the Director Secretary of Tratores do Brasil SA.
Lovilla Aiken Proctor 1816-1881 -She and her husband were farmers, and sister of “Uncle Mark” Aiken, an anti-slavery radical  abolitionist and he rang the Congregational church bell for every Union victory during the Civil War.
