A Raisin in the Sun will be presented by Peoria Players Theatre (located at 4300 N. University St. in Peoria) at 7:30 pm. Named it the best play of 1959 by the New York Drama Critics' Circle, it follows a black family's experiences in south Chicago, as they attempt to improve their financial circumstances with an insurance payout following the death of the father. PPT produces 5 musicals and one non-musical each season plus presents the Rocky Horror Picture Show (complete with props) at Halloween plus a Christmas special musical revue.
