Whisper & Shout will take place at the Contemporary Art Center beginning at 8 pm. Featuring hosts Ryan Lowry and Whitney Jensen with DJ YV, water and soda are available at the bar and attendees may bring their own food and drink or bring in food and drink from the the Rhythm Kitchen.  Featured Poet: Kaiserrific.  Admission is $5 for members, $8 for the public and $3 for poets* and are available in advance at https://peoriacac.org *Purchasing a Poet Ticket is a commitment to share your poetry on stage. If you don't plan to read, then don't purchase a poet level ticket. Kaiserrific has been writing since a very young age and performing with his poet family in other cities. Starting in 2010, he began featuring on several open mic shows in his hometown of St. Louis. Since 2012, Kaiserrific has self-published over 13 books and has been featured in several compilations with other authors. Hosting open mic shows in St. Louis since 2016 led him to launch his own show in 2019, Dat New Shit Poetry Open Mic to provide poets with an unlimited platform to perform without judges, critics and censorship. Kaiserrific is an award recipient for his outstanding performance at the Harry T. & Harriette V. Moore Memorial Park & Cultural Center in Florida and a two-time award winner at the 2021 Yours Awards for Spoken Word Male Artist of the Year and Spoken Word Artist for the Year. In his spare time, the St. Louis based artist spends time with his son, prepares for appearances, and attends open mic shows to give his love and support for all artists.

The Contemporary Art Center of Peoria is located on the Peoria riverfront and offers exhibits, live music as well as classes.  Their popular live entertainment includes Live at the Five Spot which takes place on Friday evenings, as well as Peoria’s Open Mic for Poetry, Whisper & Shout, the first Thursday of the month.  The CAC also participates in the First Fridays Studio Tours every month.

Celebrating their 40 Anniversary of Hockey being played in the “River City” in 2021, originally the team was called the Peoria Prancers (1982-83) and was sold to Bruce Saurs in 1984 when the name changed to the Peoria Rivermen as a result of a contest conducted by the Peoria Journal Star.  Saurs owned the team for 19 seasons and won the Turner Cup (they were in the IHL at that time) that first season.  The team held professional hockey’s longest winning streak with 18 games in 1991.
