Wildlife Prairie Park will host Train Day (located at 3826 N. Taylor Road in Hanna City) from 9 am – 4:30 pm. Activities will be centered around the Prairie Zephyr Train and WPP Railroad including model railroad displays, a trolley on display, behind the scenes tours of the railroad maintenance pit building, hand cart rides on the side track, photo ops on the locomotive, and a chance for children to blow the train whistle. Both trains will be running. Admission is $8 for ages 13 and up, $5 for kids aged 3 – 12, and $6 for ages 65+ or free for members or children aged 2 and under. Make a donation of $25 or more and be entered in the drawing for your chance to be an Engineer for a Day. The winner of the drawing will shadow a WPP Train Engineer for a day, which includes punching tickets, preparing the train for departure, riding with the Engineer on the locomotive, blowing the whistle, ringing the bell, playing the onboard announcements, and more. An unforgettable experience for train enthusiasts of all ages. All donations will go towards the ADA lift to help guests board and deboard the newly purchased ADA train car. All donations of $25 or more will qualify for the Engineer for a Day drawing. The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email by the end of the day of May 13, 2024.
