Event Details
The Peoria Chapter of American Guild of Organists will present Dr. Jon Giblin in concert at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (located at 3601 N. North Street in Peoria) beginning at 7:30 pm. An active organist and composer in Chicago during the 1930’s and 40’s, Price was the first black woman to have a work performed by a major orchestra. Recent discoveries of new works have brought great interest to her unique musical voice. Dr. Giblin will perform all four of Price’s major organ works; the Passacaglia and Fugue, Sonata for Organ, Suite for Organ, and Variations on a Folksong. Much of this music has only been made publicly available in the past 2 years. Admission is free. The concert is presented by the Peoria Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
