Peoria Wineries

Peoria Area Wineries

Kickapoo Creek Winery is located right off I-74 (Exit 82), about 10 minutes west of Peoria and only minutes from local restaurants and hotels. The winery is a great place in central Illinois to sample and purchase fine local wines, and to learn about how wine is made. It's a place to walk or hike along trails beside lakes, surrounded by vineyards and tall oak trees. It's a place to have a party, corporate meeting, wedding, or reception. The soil at Kickapoo Creek Winery is rich "timber soil", not well suited for corn, but ideal for growing grapes, and lots of them! In fact, the winery produces a gallon of wine per plant. Midwest grapes are comparatively intolerant to cold, and the vineyards are planted on higher ground, away from the colder, denser air. This helps the grapes remain high, dry, and frost-free. Mackinaw Valley Vineyard includes a winery, tasting room and gift shop. Choose from a selection of award winning red and white wines to savor by the glass or bottle. Complete your wine experience with a selection of cheese and crackers while taking in the panoramic view from the tasting room or veranda. The vineyard is located in Mackinaw, IL off of Route 9. Willett's Winery & Cellar was established at 105 East Market Street in Manito in 2005, five years after the initiation of an 8 acre vineyard and orchard located near Spring Lake in Tazewell County. The current home of Willett's Winery & Cellar, purchased in 2003, was originally built as a harness shop in about 1893. Much of the building was destroyed by fire in 1914, but later was rebuilt. Upon the decision to create the winery in the building, renovations began, including the revealing of the natural wood structure, creation of the two cellar-viewing windows, the addition of a 2000 square-foot tank room and cooler, and the creation of an outdoor courtyard. The result is European ambiance in a small town.
