The Apollo Fine Arts & Entertainment Center original theatre opened in 1914 on Main Street within the site of the Crescent Theater, which burned down a couple years earlier. The Apollo was designed by noted Joliet architect Frederic J. Klein, who is best known for the spectacular Coronado Theatre in Rockford, Illinois. The Apollo, inside the larger Lawyers Building, could accommodate over 800 in its auditorium, and was decorated in Art Nouveau style, including plaster cornucopias on its sidewalls. The Apollo originally had a pipe organ and canaries within its lobby.

Closed in 1958, the Apollo was briefly used for office space, and in 1960, a portion of the rear of the building was torn down when an adjacent parking lot was enlarged. In 1988, by then practically in ruins, the Apollo was purchased and lovingly restored to its original appearance. Since 2001, it has housed the Apollo International Film Group, which screens foreign, classic and independent movies in an early 20th century setting. The Corn Stock Theatre is located in an area off Park Road in upper Bradley Park. The theartre comprises of a large pit with a concrete base as a stage. Covering the entire area is a tent, with permanent structures surrounding the facility. Corn Stock Theatre has been in production since the summer of 1954. Their winter facility, the Corn Stock Theatre Center, is used for their Lab Theatre Season, Corn Stock for Kids productions as well as a rehearsal and dance class facility. Eastlight Theatre is a nonprofit regional community theater only five minutes from the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino. The air conditioned theater seats over 1,000 and features the best Midwest and Chicago professional entertainers. The purpose of Eastlight Theatre is to provide and promote the dramatic arts by delivering performances of the highest theatrical quality; to provide a forum for the performance of new plays and musicals; to contract with "outside" professionals to improve the quality of selected performances; and to initiate an educational program to help develop the artistic and dramatic talents of the tri-county area youth and adults. The Peoria Civic Center is located in downtown Peoria and hosts over 375 events per year, drawing in more than 900,000 visitors annually. Recently, the Peoria Civic Center completed a $55 million expansion and upgrade, which now features an Arena, Exhibit Hall, Theater, and Meeting Room space. Peoria Players Theatre originated in 1919, with a one-act play entitled “The Maker of Dreams,” and has been in production ever since. The theatre has remained opened despite a depression, a freeway, and many other financial obstacles. It is Peoria’s first community theatre and is the oldest continuously running community theatre in Illinois, and is the fourth oldest in the nation. The Spirit of Peoria is a turn-of-the-century paddle wheeler available for sight-seeing, theme cruises, private charters, and overnight excursions to Starved Rock State Park and Pere Marquette State Park. The Spirit of Peoria was built in Paducah, Kentucky in 1988 by Walker Boat Yard. It is solely propelled by its stern driven paddle wheel. The wheel, composed only of fiberglass and wood, has 68 bucket boards and is 22 feet in diameter. The paddle wheel is powered by two Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines that turn 350kw generator sets. This process of propulsion mimics how a diesel locomotive train is propelled. The captain steers this “floating wedding cake” with a 7 foot maple wheel located in the pilot house. Many of the Spirit of Peoria's decorative fixtures, including the captain's bell and a brass tube that serves as a telegraph from the pilot house to the captain's quarters, were purchased at auctions from much older steamboats.

The Spirit of Peoria also offers the Midwest's most unique setting for meetings and weddings. Not only is the interior elegant, but the scenic river cruise provides entertainment appropriate for almost any function. Christmas parties, weddings, reunions, fraternity/sorority formals, and business meetings are just a few of the functions hosted aboard the Spirit of Peoria. Both decks are equipped with dance floors, restrooms, microphones, wet bars, and a remarkable view of the river. Several times a year, the Spirit also is the host of many themed boat rides.
